Why is my overseas customer asking for a certificate of resdence?

When selling goods or services to a customer located outside the UK, they may sometimes ask for a certificate of fiscal residency.

Whether you are an individual or a Limited Company and earning income from overseas, to prevent double taxation you can request a CoR from HMRC.

To apply for the certificate as an individual simply log in to your Government Gateway and follow the steps.

For a certificate of fiscal residency of a Limited Company, partnership or LLP you'll need to fill in and submit RES1.
